QR Lineside 2 : Brisbane Suburban

QR lineside is an occasional series of short videos showing modern QR trains at work.

2. Brisbane Suburban This DVD video production shows Brisbane's suburban electric trains at work between 1996 and the present time. It does not show interurban workings, nor steam and diesel traction. Until 1978, Brisbane's suburban railways were divided between a southern system terminating at South Brisbane, and a northern system focussed on Roma St. The opening of the Merivale Bridge across the Brisbane River enabled the through running of train services from north to south. Electrification, at 25 kV AC, followed between 1982 and 1988. For suburban service, an initial batch of 88 three-car sets was delivered between 1979 and 1987. Twelve more followed in1994-5, and a further thirty units in 1999-2001, both with changes in design. Twenty more sets commenced delivery early in 2007 . Filmed 1996-2007. All digital. 16-bit sound, Dolby 2.0. Commentary can be switched off. 37 minutes.

DVD ONLY. RRP: $14.95
